It’s Hour of Code Week, and if there’s ever a week to kick start your coding exploration this is your time.

The Hour of Code is a worldwide movement that aims to introduce millions of students to computer science through one-hour coding activities.  Hour of Code, aims to demystify coding and show that anyone can learn the basics, inspiring future interest in computer science.

“But, where do I start?” I hear you say…

Here’s a few resources to get you going:

FreeCodeCamp has a good beginners web development (aka HTML, CSS and JavaScript) tutorial and certification that’s super engaging and easy to follow.

Codecademy is also a good resource for beginners Web/Frontend development (e.g. HTML, CSS and JavaScript), back end development (e.g Java, C#, Kotlin, python, etc), Database development (e.g. SQL), etc. Choose one language and get going with it and see if you gel with it, if no choose a different one.

CodingWithMosh – Mosh Hamedani has one hour video tutorials on his YouTube channel covering various programming languages that are easy to digest for beginners.

Traversy Media – they have some great video tutorials where you can code along a create some interesting projects.
